Which night light to choose based on age (and for adults too)?
Partager
Not all night lights serve the same purpose. Between a baby a few months old and a teenager who wants ambient lighting in their room, the criteria are completely different. Here is how to choose.
0 – 3 years: soft to the touch above all
At this age, two things matter: a very dim light, and an object that is pleasant to handle. Soft silicone is ideal — it is drop-resistant and has no sharp edges.
The Duck Night Light uses a shape that toddlers recognize before all others, and the Pear Night Light turns on with a simple touch, with no button to find.
3 – 8 years: the companion that reassures on its own
This is the period when the fear of the dark is most common. A night light with a face becomes a true emotional anchor that the child finds upon each nightly awakening. The number one criterion at this age is consistency: always in the same place, always the same warm light.
The Cat, the Fox, the Rabbit, and the Capybara all work on this principle: press it, and the light comes on. The Cat even has a rechargeable battery for children who take their night light from one room to another.
8 years, teens, and adults: make way for ambiance
Past a certain age, the function changes. You are no longer looking for a glowing plush toy, but a decorative piece that creates an atmosphere — for reading at night, for a living area, or for a teenager's bedroom.
This is the role of our all-ages lamps: Halume Orion projects a rotating starry sky, Halume Phare projects a full moon on the wall with sound effects, and Halume Horizon spreads a sunset gradient across the wall. None of them look like "toys."
For siblings or as a gift
When you need to equip two children, or give a gift without knowing which one to choose, our Duo packs combine two models at a better price than buying them separately — the Fox & Cat for a shared bedroom, or the Orion & Phare for a living space.
In summary
- Babies and young children — soft silicone, warm light, simple switching
- Children with a fear of the dark — an endearing shape rather than a neutral lamp
- Teens and adults — an ambient lamp intended as a decor object
- Siblings or gift — a Duo pack
